Trouble Don’t Last Always
Mixed Media, 2008
This mixed media portrait of blues artist Junior Kimbrough was constructed from materials collected after his famous juke joint burned in the Spring of 2000. The backing metal is from roofing tin, the springs are from Junior’s favorite chair, and the various metals comprising his face are from pieces burned to varying degrees, creating different patinas and color values. The title comes from one of Kimbrough’s original songs recorded for Fat Possum records, which launched him into wider renown in the 1990’s.
